Trade Shows

Often the dealers need the expert to come in and show off the machine at trade shows to help sell machines. We can assist in demonstrating all the features of the machines and help people to understand how all the features are used. The most gratifying time is to be present at the trade show and offer a special class a day or two after the trade show for all of those people that either purchased or still want to know more before they purchase and want some "up close" time with the machine and personal time to ask questions.

The Design Basics Of Free-Hand Quilting

This freehand class is the launch of beginning quilting. In this class, we teach the very basics of threading, starting and stopping, and the basic pieces to all quilting designs. Design Basics simplifies for the student what once seemed unreachable. This is generally a hands-on class, but if space for longarm machines is limited, Janie will do the quilting and the class will do the note taking. At the end of the class that Janie quilts, she will draw a name to win the wall hanging.

The Original Quilt Magician Class

The project is a table runner. All class material is included. This computerized quilting class is for owners just getting started or pre-owners that want to learn more about computerized quilting. We go over the menu and a project is stitched out so that each student becomes aware of how easy it is to use the menu and editing menu. By the time the class project is over, each student will become comfortable with Quilt Magician. This class works for Shirley Stitcher owners also. This class is part of the dealer certification program required for dealers to be certified, but is open to the public.

Advanced Beginner ESP and Quilt Magician Class

You must have had "The Original Quilt Magician Class" to take this class. This class will teach you the next level of screens and icons that you can use to get precise work. In this class you will learn how you can make all the necessary adjustments to set in corners and borders and never end up with a half of a row of panto work. Perfection is in the details and you will learn just where in the menu you can go to get perfection. Class materials are included and the piece that you complete will be easily turned into a longarm dust cover for your machine.

2 Day Paint and Thread Play Class

This class is for intermediate students wanting to know how to adjust the tensions for all kinds of threads. The first day the student paints 5 small pieces and we discuss the basic steps to quilting. A power point of basic design to free-hand quilting is part of what we go over while the fabric is drying. Tension adjustments are one of the main focuses of the conversation. The second day everyone quilts one of their painted pieces and we try all kinds of threads and thread adjustments to become comfortable with the process. Everyone completes a fun artistic piece.

1 Day Crash Course in Thread Play

Starting with a trunk show for inspiration and a mini lesson on design basics of free-hand quilting, we will begin taking turns quilting the hand-painted piece. Using threads from all over the world and a variety of weights and textures, we will work to complete the piece by the end of the day. Topping off the work with gold metallic thread and a few crystals, we will divide the quilt by the number of classmates and each one will take home a piece of art. This is one of the most fun classes, and I have been told that this class takes away all fear of trying new threads and adjusting tensions.

Feathers and Intermediate Backgrounds

A Power Point of quilts and feather designs is shown first. Each student draws several designs next. We transition into the machines, where we begin learning the path that we quilt to accomplish beautiful feathered designs. A small, whole-cloth wall hanging is completed. Feathered classes take a very full day.

Speed Quilting - Mixed Techniques

Speed quilting includes: laser light pantographing and speed pantographing (freehand style), Celtic designs with reverse appliqué, eyelash work for fusible appliqué and point-to-point work that teaches how to quilt by using the block-work in the quilt to create the design. The 5 basic shapes to quilting are emphasized. We hope each student would have taken "Design Basics Of Free-Hand Quilting" class first, but it is not required.

How to Start a Longarm Business Class

This is just a half day class and is usually paired with a Longarm Club Meeting. There are steps to follow to ensure that you can be full-time busy within 6 months. Just follow the steps and watch your business grow. Questions answered from 32 years of longarm experience.

Zippillows

Creating pillows with zippers entirely on the longarm machine is a fantastic class. It is only a half day class also and works great in conjunction with a Longarm Club Meeting. This can be either a one machine demo or it can be a hands-on class with or without a computerized unit. For those that wish the completed pillows to be part of their own décor at home, please bring your own 1-yard top fabric and 1-yard backing fabric along with a 24 -inch color matching invisible zipper. Everything — and I mean every step of this project — is done on the machine. All you have to do is stuff the pillow once it comes off the longarm frame. It is a beautiful and fun thing to see.
